Our Team

Shorefront JCC has an experienced staff team that is committed to the Council’s clients. A majority of the staff has been with us more than six years; several have been with us for 10 years or more. Collectively the staff speaks more than eight languages and use most of them in serving our clients.

 

Rabbi Moshe Weiner, Executive Director

Rabbi Weiner has served as Executive Director of Shorefront Jewish Community Council since 1998, and has been Executive Director of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI) since 1981. Under his leadership, JCCGCI has grown to be a highly-acclaimed social service agency providing a wide array of human services to all segments of the population in southern Brooklyn, with multiple government contracts and private, foundation and corporate support.


He has published two books and numerous articles and dissertations, and has served as an expert witness in celebrated Federal and State court cases. He has also conducted advanced adult education course.


Rabbi Weiner has served on New York City’s Aging Advisory Council, having been appointed by both Mayor Giuliani and Mayor Bloomberg. He holds a Master of Science degree from Long Island University in Counseling.

 

Rachel Krich, Site Director

Rachel Krich has been the Site Director at SJCC since January 2010. Her prior experience includes both public and private sector work.


Prior to joining SJCC she was Constituent Affairs Liaison for New York City Councilmember Simcha Felder, handling constituent issues, writing public remarks and integrating community concerns into policy positions.


Mrs. Krich holds a Masters in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor’s degree from Stern College for Women at Yeshiva University.

 

Magda Friedman, Case Manager

Ms. Friedman joined Shorefront JCC in 2004. She holds a master’s degree in language arts and literature, and speaks Russian, Ukrainian and Hungarian, as well as English. She has received certificates from training in accounting, computer science and tax preparation.

 

Sara Feinstein, Case Manager

Ms. Feinstein came to New York from St. Petersburg, Russia. She speaks Russian as well as English. Ms. Feinstein holds a B.A. in human services, and is currently studying psychology in graduate school.

 

Anna Gorodetsky, Case Manager

Ms. Gorodetsky emigrated from Odessa, Ukraine. Since 1992 she has been supporting other immigrants, as well as other clients, in her work at Shorefront JCC. She speaks Ukrainian, Russian, Belorussian and Polish, and also assists with translating Italian and Spanish paperwork when required.

 

Ms. Gorodetsky has a combined Bachelor/Master’s degree in teaching. She trained in social work at the New York Association for New Americans and has also received training from the New York City Department of the Aging.

 

Rivka Kulik, Food Pantry Coordinator

Ms. Kulik manages every aspect of Shorefront JCC’s Food Pantry program. She is fluent in Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish as well as English, and was born and raised in New York City. She has lived in Israel, and done volunteer work in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

 

Bella Raykina, Homebound Case Manager

Ms. Raykina came to New York from Minsk, Belarus more than 20 years ago and joined the staff at Shorefront JCC in 2001. She earned her diploma from the Foreign Language College in Minsk, and speaks English, Russian, Belorussian, Yiddish and German.


She received social services training at the Institute for Children and Families in New York, and has also received certificates for training from the New York Department for the Aging. In addition she has a certificate from the Business Technical Institute in New York.

 

Yeva Yarusskaya, Case Manager

Ms. Yarusskaya has extensive experience advocating for clients who are applying for benefits, having worked with Shorefront JCC since 2000. She handles every aspect of case management, including entitlements, working with Holocaust survivors and processing legal claims and benefits. She is bilingual in Russian and English.

 

Ms. Yarusskaya has a master’s degree in social work from Adelphi University.

 

Albert Zabizhin, Case Manager

Mr. Zabizhin specializes in assisting clients with Holocaust reparations, and provides other case management services, as well. He joined Shorefront JCC in 2004. He speaks Russian as well as English. Mr. Zabizhin received his BA from Hunter College, CUNY.

 

Liba Shakhman, Office Administrator

Liba, an immigrant from Ukraine, has over nine years of administrative experience. She coordinates SJCC’s ESL/Adult Literacy Program. Liba holds a B.S. in Speech and Communication and an M.S. in Education with an emphasis on Administrative Leadership.
