Food Pantry Services

Are you or someone you know one of the many people in Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach who often go hungry?

Shorefront Jewish Community Councils’ large Food Pantry program may be able to help if you or your parent can’t afford enough good, nourishing food.

We offer three services to help address hunger:

  • Every month we distribute staple foods provided to us by Met Council. Participants pick up the food at a central location.
  • We provide several prepared meals per week to individuals and families who use most of their income to pay their rent. Participants pick up their meals once a week..
  • A limited number of meals for those with an urgent, immediate need, through the Emergency Food Security program, available at the SJCC office.

If you would like to find out whether you are eligible for our food program, please see Applying for the SJCC Food Pantry Program.

In addition to our regular Food Pantry program, we have a major food distribution at Passover, with over 2000 beneficiaries. We distribute food packages with traditional Passover food such as matzohs, grape juice, gefilte fish, horseradish, macaroons, and fresh produce, as well as chicken when it is donated. We also provide Passover food assistance vouchers.

Shorefront JCC holds communal Passover sedars at five synagogues and Jewish centers in the Brighton and Manhattan Beach area.
